Ben Affleck to be Batman

Last week, it was announced that Ben Affleck will play Batman in the next Man of Steel sequel. Needless to say, the internet has erupted with fanboy rage. Can Ben Affleck who was so awfully cast in Daredevil be the next Dark Knight? I’m going to get in the guy’s corner. A lot of the haters are only familiar with Affleck’s early work when he exploded onto the scene as Hollywood’s new hunk. He was cast because he was handsome, and that was about it. However, recent years have proved what an amazing actor and filmmaker he has become. The Town, Argo, and Hollywoodland are perfect examples of the maturity and depth that he can show. Much like George Clooney, Affleck has experienced a renaissance of sorts as an actor and has, for the most part, made wise choices in recent years. I feel that a slightly older, more grizzled Batman (like the Frank Miller comics) could be possible with Affleck. We’ll need to see more before we can really judge how Affleck can fill such big shoes, but I think he’s going to be great. Here’s to Baffleck!
