Guess Who’s Coming to SLCC?

Press Conference OpenDuring this morning’s Salt Lake Comic Con press conference, organizers Dan Farr and Bryan Brandenburg announced the first round of guests for the upcoming con in September. The list so far includes:

Bruce Campbell (Army of Darkness)

Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters)

Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride)

Sam Witwer (Being Human)

John Barrowman (Doctor Who)

Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future)

This is just the beginning of guest announcements. Over 200 guests from TV and film, comics, book authors, and more are expected at the next con. I think that the guests announced so far are a great beginning. Each of these celebrities in the movies and TV shows next to their names, but they’ve also been in a lot of other interesting things (like Witwer doing The Clone Wars, Lloyd in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and Bruce Campbell in… everything!) And for the most part they are funny, dynamic people. Perfect for awesome panels. I’m excited to see who else will be added to the lineup.

Tickets also went on sale today. Multi Pass tickets are currently 50% off, so you can grab one for $30. A new Gold Pass tier was created that is similar to Multi Pass, but you’ll get early entry into the Expo Hall, a t-shirt and lanyard, and a $20 photo op voucher. VIP Passes are a whopping $200, but a new loyalty program for repeat customers will save them 25%. Discounts exist for military, law enforcement, and first responders, but now high school and college students will also get a discount. More than 100,000 people attend the FanX experience in Salt Lake last month, and even more are expected for September. So if you’re planning on going, act quickly before ticket prices go up or sell out.

As more details come in, we’ll be sure to post them here. Who would you like to see at the next SLCC? Let us know in the comments.

P.S. The kind of people that cover Comic Con are truly ‘enthusiast press.’ There aren’t many other press conferences where we get treated to cosplay. Here are just a few of the standouts from this morning.

Quite frankly, Tim is a 17-year-old trapped in a 30-something-year-old’s body. He loves good TV – by which he means something with a good serialized storyline – and movies, and spends many of his nights immersed in a gloriously complex video game. He’s a firm believer that Lost was the greatest show ever made, and that includes the ending. Oh, and Tim is a staunch defender of the Ewoks and their place in the Star Wars canon.
