SDCC 2015 Thursday Panels Worth Considering

SDCC 2015 Thursday ScheduleIf you’re at San Diego Comic-Con, here are some panels that you should maybe check out on Thursday.

The Autobiography of James T. Kirk (10:45 AM, Ballroom 20

William Shatner himself reads excerpts from the totally real (not at all based on a fictional man in a science fiction universe) memoir of his iconic character, Captain Kirk.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (12:00 PM, Hall H)

Ok, the last movie was a little lackluster, but the finale is looking pretty good and you’re going to get to see a bunch of the cast. Jennifer Lawrence is just wonderful. But be prepared to wait in line overnight.

Spotlight on Jim Lee (12:45 PM, Room 6DE)

I saw a Jim Lee panel at Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con last year and it’s a cool experience. He’s an icon with a long history in the comics community, so he has a lot of stories to share, but the coolest part is that you get to watch him sketch live on an overhead screen while he’s talking. It was great to watch Batman come to life right in front of us.

Geek and Sundry with Felicia Day (1:00 pm, Indigo Ballroom- Hilton San Diego Bayfront)

The always lovely Felicia Day is joined by Wil Wheaton and other friends from the Geek & Sundry community. Expect to hear news about upcoming shows to be featured on the site and stories from Felicia’s new book You’re Never Weird on the Internet. A personal favorite of mine.

The Last Ship: Panel and Exclusive Sneak Peak (1:45 PM, Room 6A)

Two words: Adam Baldwin

Terry Brooks and the World of Shannara (3:00 PM, Horton Grand Theater)

The Shannara series was formative for most fantasy book fans, myself included. But the series is even more relevant today with the upcoming MTV series which I feel will be like a teenage-focused Game of Thrones. This should be an interesting panel about the history of the books and the future of the property.

Con Man: The Fan Revolt 13 Years in the Making (3:45 PM, Hall H)

If you’re unaware of this crowdfunded series, you might not be a real geek. Sorry. Guests include Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Tricia Helfer, Felicia Day, Nolan North, Seth Green, Wil Wheaton and more. I think I just peed a little.

Tattooine Law: Legal Lessons From Star Wars (7:30 PM, Room 26AB)

How is this even a thing? Maybe it’s worth going just so that you’ll always have the confidence of knowing that there’s someone out there that’s crazier than you.

Tim Bennett
Writer at ComicCon.tips
Quite frankly, Tim is a 17-year-old trapped in a 30-something-year-old’s body. He loves good TV – by which he means something with a good serialized storyline – and movies, and spends many of his nights immersed in a gloriously complex video game. He’s a firm believer that Lost was the greatest show ever made, and that includes the ending. Oh, and Tim is a staunch defender of the Ewoks and their place in the Star Wars canon. You can listen to Tim on the Whatever Makes You Weird podcast, check out his opinions about upcoming movies in our Trailerpark Tuesday segments, and find his reporting about cons and all things nerd-ish on Comic Con Tips.
