Tim – This looks pretty great. Apparently, this is based on the true story that inspired Moby dick. Whales and the ocean freak me out because they’re too big for their own good. In fact, I would probably be more scared to see a whale than any other animal. Seeing one from a boat would be horrible, but while being stranded in the ocean? That would be my nightmare. And the whale looks to be only a part of this survival story. Ron Howard is a great filmmaker, so this movie will probably be epic. I’m in.
Trevor – I’m perhaps a little torn on this one. At first, this was giving off a bit of a “Master and Commander” feel. Which I detested. But then Chris Hemsworth showed up and I started to wonder. Then the cinematography started turning beautiful… and it starts showing some very dramatic scenes. I haven’t read Moby Dick, but I think I could get behind this film just for arts sake. I’ll watch this one.

Tim – Hmmm. There are things that interest me here, but I don’t know that I’m hooked. I like suspenseful thrillers. Having bad people coming after people is a real threat, and I like that better than a monster movie. And treasure hunting is great. But this has a little bit of a straight-to-DVD vibe. It’s being released in January which is where movies go to die, so I don’t have a ton of confidence. I’ll wait to hear more. Maybe it’ll be a rental.
