Trailerpark Tuesday- Play It Again, Monsters: Dark Continent, St. Vincent

TrailerPark PinkPlay It Again, Dick

Tim This teaser can be a little confusing if you don’t know what it is. Basically, it’s super meta. It’s a web series about the cast of Veronica Mars- the cast, not the characters. Ryan Hansen is playing himself trying to pitch a new show for his character (Dick Casablancas) from Veronica Mars. The show within a show would star him as a private investigator and series regulars from Veronica Mars would appear as their “real life” characters and sometimes as their characters from the show. Crazy and layered. As a big Veronica Mars fan, I’m interested just because it’s such a weird idea. And I love Kristen Bell. Like love love.

Trevor – I’m glad Tim knew what was going on, because I wasn’t sure. It looks like a funny premise, and a rousing storyline. I don’t know if I’ll like this, but I enjoyed Veronica Mars, so I’m going to give this a go and see where it lands me.

Monsters: Dark Continent

Tim – Some bad movies are great because they’re so bad (i.e. Sharknado). I don’t think that this is one of those. This movie seems to take itself a little too seriously, but it’s not big enough to have high caliber spectacle and it’s not cheesy enough to be a fun laugh-fest. I think I’ll skip this one.

Trevor – This is the part where I introduce to you a new family holiday, ComaFest. Once a year, I gather my friends and family and we watch all the movies we missed from the previous year or huge releases. This one will likely be on the list of options, but then when it comes down to it, none of us will feel impressed enough to watch it and I doubt I ever see it.

St. Vincent

Tim – This looks great. I’m not a huge Bill Murray fan (blasphemy, I know), but he does have several roles that really stand out to me, most notably his recent movies. This movie looks like something Walter Matthau would have done before he passed away. Ornery old men are funny, but this movie likes it has a lot of heart, too. I hope that this is one of those movies that makes you laugh way more than you expected, but also makes you secretly tear up occasionally. I’m in.

Trevor – I really like Bill Murray. As a parent, I get a little squeamish about movies with children, especially where that kid gets exposed to influences that aren’t great. That being said, I think this show will end up being a good one and I bet I enjoy it.
