Dawn of Planet of the Apes – Trailer

The official trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes came out today!

Work from the folks over at Weta Digital can be seen in this trailer.

The first Planet of the Apes movies came out before I was born. When I was little, I remember seeing clips here and there on the TV from the movies and remember thinking how crazy dumb the costumes of the apes looked. That feeling towards the Apes movies continued throughout my life. So when they announced and released Rise of Planet of the Apes, I was not excited or interested.

I saw trailers with a single chimp running around with a human and ultimately stayed unimpressed. Eventually, in my desperation to watch something new, I finally saw RoPotA, I believe from Redbox AND LOVED IT! I can’t tell you how surprising that was for me. Maybe it was my low expectations, but I really walked away from it feeling excited about where the movie had gone and cared about Caesar. I don’t know about you, but Rise of Planet of the Apes was one of my favorite movies from 2011.

This leads us to now. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Can you get a more confusing title? I’m having a very difficult time remembering which one of the two is the first one based on the name alone. But the name aside, this trailer looks cool. It seems to be a humans VS the apes scenario. That does lead me to have a little bit of hesitation. Mainly I think this is stemming from the fact that I’m pretty sure the apes are going to win and I have a hard time imagining that I’m going to care about the survival of the apes more than the survival of the humans.

Time will tell, but this is definitely on my must-see list. Can’t wait to see more from this one and I’m really excited that Weta is involved, they do such fantastic work!

Trevor began his forray into nerdom as a kid peddling his bike all the way to the local bookstore to purchase comic books. The boring superhero comics weren’t good enough for Trevor, he wanted the real ones. The ones with ducks. Now who's laughing while he’s on his way to cash in all those valuable Ducktales comics. Soon he’ll have his own money bin full to the brim. These days, to fill the time before the money bin construction completes (and begins), Trevor fills his time with photography, movies, television and comic book conventions. You can find his cosplay Meet & Greet mini-shoot and articles on this site as well as prints of his photographs being sold by cosplayers throughout the land.

P.S. Trevor converted to Marvel & DC comics and movies later on, so no heartburn on that one, right?
